  • Festival Description: The annual Cheung Chau Bun Festival takes place in May this year, from the fifth to the ninth day of the fourth lunar month. Tonnes of buns, papier-mâché effigies, lion dancers and tales of ancient evil spirits come together on the island of Cheung Chau to create one of the world’s quirkiest local festivals. The festival has also been officially inscribed on the national list of Intangible Cultural Heritage, featuring an array of activities, including the much-anticipated Bun Scrambling Competition, which draws both locals and visitors each year.
